Success Story: MEK Magnet

Monika Kalenski is the president and CEO of MEK Magnet as well as the founder of Removable Trail Armor. In 2016 she took her Jeep off-roading for the first time and “scratched the heck out of it.” She looked for any kind of solution and found none; “so I invented it.” Monika developed a magnetic armor for steel jeeps which evolved into a lightweight nano-hold technology product for the new aluminum and smooth quad vehicles.

She began to launch her new nano-technology in March 2020. “With everything being cancelled I couldn’t show anyone what my product was, which had a detrimental effect on my business … What SBDC helped me with is finding much-needed funding through grants and loans during a time when my industry took a huge hit.”

With the SBDC she was able to access programs which would help fund her business, purchase more raw materials for new inventory, and aid marketing. “We were able to get our brand out there … Because of that this year (2021), we were able to launch a whole new lightweight resin nano-hold technology product which is really taking off as well … If you need this, it’s not a handout. It’s not a sign your business is failing.” She adds how it’s a helping hand from an organization that knows the importance of small businesses in America, producing jobs, amazing products, and of course keep the economy going.
