Do You Have A Small Business That We Can Help You Start or Grow?

Success Story: Microtek

Microtek is a microelectronic manufacturing company and manufacturer of medical devices. Louie Nguyen, chief investment officer at Mission Driven Finance, says one day his team got a call about an intriguing new company, run by AAPI (Asian American/Pacific Islander) entrepreneurs in the science space doing great work and looking for capital to grow. Wesley Quach, director of Alliance SBDC in San Diego, introduced Microtek to MDF, a San Diego impact investor that provides capital to small businesses and nonprofits solving social pain points in the community.

Nguyen says his banking team grew excited as they learned about Microtek’s intelligence, intentionality, business model, and the impact for us all. Microtek shares how together, the SBDC and MDF visited the Microtek facility, met with the founders and employees, and took the time to understand the company’s mission, goals, and needs for growth. “We found synergy in financing for our first phase of growth of our diverse workforce,” Microtek notes.

“SBDC provides an abundance of resources,” says Leah Villegas, vice president of operations for Microtek, “and they provide a great network of business advisors that any business owner can really take advantage of to help grow their business … I just want to thank Alliance SBDC for all the help they’ve given our company, especially in these times of COVID.” A lot of businesses have struggled, she continues, and the SBDC actually allowed us to grow over last year and a half.
