El Arcos Tacos

Roberto Arcos and his family launched El Arcos Tacos with a vision that extended beyond serving great food. After years of working in corporate and physically demanding jobs, Roberto wanted to build a business that reflected his family’s values, created financial independence, and provided a meaningful future for his loved ones. The family began planning in July 2025 with goals of achieving financial stability, creating flexibility for future family milestones, and building a legacy rooted in faith, family, and community. As first-time business owners, they faced the challenges of navigating permits, compliance requirements, taxes, payment systems, and food safety regulations. Seeking guidance, they partnered with the San Diego & Imperial SBDC and worked closely with advisor Daisy, who provided personalized support throughout the startup process.

With the SBDC’s assistance, El Arcos Tacos officially launched in January 2026. Within the first two months, the business generated approximately $6,000 in revenue while maintaining strong profitability. They also secured opportunities at apartment communities, pop-up events, and local gatherings, with their first public event generating enough customer demand to earn repeat invitations. Today, El Arcos Tacos continues to grow as a successful family-owned business, transforming a dream of entrepreneurship into a sustainable business and a lasting family legacy.

“The SBDC has helped us so much from the very beginning. When everything was new and we didn’t know where to start, Daisy guided us step-by-step. She helped us understand what to do, where to go, and even how to set up things like payments and taxes. Because of that, we were able to overcome our fear and actually start. Now we have a business, we are making sales, and we feel confident moving forward. This has changed not just our finances, but how we see ourselves—we are now business owners, and we are proud of what we’ve built together as a family.”
