Do You Have A Small Business That We Can Help You Start or Grow?

Success Story: Advice Analytics

Jerry Yen, Advice Analytics CEO and cofounder, leads an exciting fin-tech start-up in San Diego. “We use predictive compliance to unlock 300 billion dollars in retirement assets for 100 million everyday workers,” he summarizes as his elevator pitch. Jerry says he came to The Brink SBDC essentially with a million ideas and 999,999 were garbage, like any entrepreneur he laughs.

Jerry describes how he was able to grow a few focused ideas with bigger impact and adds how that process couldn’t have happened without The Brink. From conferences and workshops to the Brink team and entrepreneurial – including raising capital – process, working with The Brink, Jerry saw, and getting everyone involved, brought multiple mirrors to tell the truth about an idea and how to go about it.

“(The SBDC) is so useful in terms of really honing the idea … It helped us get to refining our business.” Advice Analytics competed in the San Diego Angel Conference, made the semifinals and missed the finals; Jerry recalls how they gathered lessons learned and watched the winners, how they conducted themselves and their narrative. Then came the pandemic. Then in 2021, they went out and won the Seattle angel conference as the first non-Seattle based start-up to do so and gained one of highest prizes in the industry.

The company is now continuing to follow its three-step recipe: build, sell, and repeat. Jerry says his SBDC experience has been one of “honest candor,” not always tough love but honest caring. “Everyone is authentic.” Visit adviceanalytics.com to learn more about this start-up!
